Something To Threaten The Children With

The rather splendid headline "Irish Language Pantomime Apt Metaphor For Modern Ireland" comes courtesy of the Galway Independent, (thanks to Blogorrah for the tip).

Mamo Gé (Mother Goose) is "a light-hearted exploration of the original [Golden Goose] story" for children while also being "an apt metaphor for the Ireland we now live in". The story revolves around Mamo Ge, who "the Celtic Tiger has bypassed .. as it has many in our society". A local landlord and builder (but of course) is the bogeyman. Starring in the Panto are the inevitable actors from Ros Na Rún AND Fair City.

"This is a show for children from four to ninety four years of age!", says the article but doesn't add 'as long as they get the dialectical materialism subtext'.

Rumours that Michael D. Higgins will give clenched fist tribute to Castro after each matinee are thought to be untrue.
